Celebrate Our Community Heroes

The Haven partnered with The Voices of Hope Child Welfare Network, Child and Family Connections (our Community Based Lead Agency), and other providers and community businesses to "Celebrate our Community Heroes" during a breakfast at West Palm Beach's Kravis Center.  The event honored child advocates, state lawmakers and others who work to improve the lives of children who have been removed from their families as a result of abuse, abandonment or neglect.


Maculene St. Louis, is shown receiving the Outstanding Youth of the Year award from Haven Executive Director Don Stewart and Voices of Hope founder Charles Bender. The 23 year old former foster youth now works for the Department of Children and Families (DCF) where she says she "hopes to give back to the system that helped me for so many years."

State Representative Matt Hudson is shown receiving the House Member of the Year award from Haven Executive Director Don Stewart and Children's Network of Southwest Florida CEO Nadereh Salim. Representative Hudson was commended along with other legislators including Senator Joe Negron, and Representatives Joseph Abruzzo, and Denise Grimsley, for helping enact laws to fund and support programs for foster and adopted children
